Calculate your salary hike percentage from your current and new salary, or find your new salary from a target hike percentage.
Based on FY2026-27 rules · Last updated
A salary hike can be stated two ways — as a percentage, or as a new number — and converting between them by hand is where most mistakes happen. This calculator solves it both directions: enter your current and new salary to get the exact hike percentage, or enter your current salary and a target percentage to see the new salary it produces.
Switch modes using the toggle above the calculator, depending on which number you already know.
Hike Percentage
20.0%
Hike amount: ₹1,60,000 / year
New Monthly Salary
₹80,000
Hike / Month
₹13,333
Hike percentage = (New salary − Current salary) ÷ Current salary × 100. Switch modes to solve the other direction: enter a target hike % to find the new salary it produces, or enter both salaries to find the hike % between them.
Note: This calculator computes a simple percentage hike on your stated salary figure. It doesn't account for changes in salary structure, bonus components, or statutory deductions that may affect your actual take-home after a hike — use the Take-Home Salary Calculator for that.
Example: moving from ₹8,00,000 to ₹9,60,000 is an increase of ₹1,60,000, which is a 20% hike. In the other direction, a 12% hike on ₹10,00,000 gives a new salary of ₹11,20,000.
| Current salary | Change | New salary |
|---|---|---|
| ₹8,00,000 | +20% (₹1,60,000) | ₹9,60,000 |
| ₹10,00,000 | +12% (₹1,20,000) | ₹11,20,000 |
| ₹6,00,000 | +8% (₹48,000) | ₹6,48,000 |
Salary hike percentage = (New salary − Current salary) ÷ Current salary × 100. For example, a salary increase from ₹8,00,000 to ₹9,60,000 is a 20% hike, because the ₹1,60,000 increase is 20% of the original ₹8,00,000.
Most employers calculate and communicate hike percentage on CTC (Cost to Company), not in-hand salary. Since CTC includes employer-side components like PF and gratuity provision that don't scale identically with every hike, your in-hand salary increase can differ slightly from the stated hike percentage — check the Take-Home Salary Calculator to see the actual impact.
New salary = current salary × (1 + hike % ÷ 100). For example, a 12% hike on ₹10,00,000 gives ₹10,00,000 × 1.12 = ₹11,20,000. To work backwards from two salaries, use (new − current) ÷ current × 100. This calculator handles both directions.
Not always. If your hike is on CTC, your in-hand pay may rise by a different percentage because employer PF, tax slabs and Professional Tax do not scale evenly. A higher income can also move you into a higher tax slab. Use the Take-Home Salary Calculator with your old and new CTC to see the real change in your monthly pay.
