Full & Final Settlement (F&F)

The final payment calculation when an employee leaves, covering unpaid salary, leave encashment, gratuity, and deductions.

Full & Final Settlement, commonly abbreviated F&F, is the complete financial reconciliation done when an employee leaves a company — covering any unpaid salary up to the last working day, leave encashment, gratuity if eligible, bonus if applicable, and any pending reimbursements, minus deductions like a notice period shortfall or outstanding loans.

F&F is where leave-balance disputes and payroll errors accumulated over an employee's tenure tend to surface — a leave balance the spreadsheet says is 8 days but the employee remembers as 12 becomes a real disagreement precisely when there's a final number and a deadline attached to it.
